Hide behind transparent glass
Hide behind your past
Hide behind a rainbowed sky
Hide behind a lie
Hide behind subjective truth
Hide behind your youth
Hide behind your many years
Hide behind your fears
Chameleon
Can you see beyond
Free horizons
Chameleon
Hide behind transparent eyes
Hide behind the light
Change the change and then disguise
Day becomes your night
What is real and what is fake?
What is truth and lie?
Can you give and can you take?
Can you change your mind?
Chameleon
Can you see beyond
Free horizons

I find Everything
Copyright Robert Lindsay Nathan and Robert DeNorris Darby
When I need a friend ... I find that in you.
When I need to talk ... You know just what to do.
And though there are times ... I need a tender touch.
You come a just little closer ... and, Girl that means so damn much.
CHORUS:
(Girl) You're my strength
You're my beckon call.
You're my brace.
You're my all in all.
Cause now, that my search
Is finally through.
I find everything
That I need in you.
('Cause Girl) When I need a voice ... that's so soft and low.
There's no need to look ... 'cause I know, just where to go.
In just a magic short moment ... I'll be hoping and hanging around.
To hear your silly little laugh ... that sweet, sweet pleasant sound. (Of you)
(Chorus -- Repeat Twice and fade).

I Wish I Could
Copyright 1995 Robert Denorris Darby and Robert Lindsay Nathan, Jr.
Intro:
I wish - I wish - I wish - I wish
I wish that I could.
I wish - I wish - I wish - I wish
I wish that I would.
Verse 1:
I can't sit down to eat - or go out for a meal.
Without seeing your shining face - your presence is so real.
I pick up my silver spoon - and what I taste is good.
I'm reminded of your luscious lips - and I wish, I wish, I wish that I could.
Verse 2:
Can't ride down the streets - without a sideways glance.
I reach out my calloused hands - for a little romance.
I can hear your vexing voice - speak to me as you would.
Sometimes when I'm riding around - and I wish, I wish, I wish that I could.
Verse 3:
I Can't go to sleep at night - my room is so dark and cold.
The warmth of your beautiful body - could soothe my very soul.
And I can smell your baby sweet breath - It makes me feel so good.
Your dreams bring me relaxing release - and I wish, I wish, I wish that I could.
Chorus:
I wish that I could hold you,
Cuddle and console you.
I wish that I could love you,
I wish I wish I could.

Candles in the Dark
Copyright 9/2/2017 Robert Lindsay Nathan, Jr.
It’s true, I’ve been bent some,
Off the track of convention.
I think it’s safe to say
Off that path, yes, I’ve strayed.
That which mentors had marked
From ancient lies that they’d saved
Hiding candles
In the dark
From a burr and a wick
And a garden of lark
In a rose standing stark
A flame did egnyte
And a candle did burn
From the wick that’s within
Lighting candles
In the dark
Until two and then three
Burst toward infinity
Now what all the kings dread;
Superstition is dead.
Like when stories told between the lines
Were the truth that all could see
Now candles in the dark
Enlighten slaves with anarchy.
Now what all the kings dread;
Superstition is dead.

West Wind
Copyright 1997 Robert Darby and Robert Nathan
VERSE 1
I took a walk down on the wild side - past a railroad track.
With nothing left to say or do.
On the south end of a side street - I turn to look back
Hoping to get a glimpse of you.
But somewhere in the shadows - I hear a whistle blow
Sounds like it's calling your name.
But it's only a mirage - of a vanishing train
Yet, my heart still feels the same.
Like a west wind
Lost it’s best friend
CHORUS 1
West wind leaving
Tell me where you gonna go?
My hearts grieving cause I'll miss you so.
Load up my luggage - packed with memories of you
West wind leaving
You know, I'll miss you so
VERSE 2
As the train starts rollin - I'm shedding a tear.
For the luggage you left behind
On a cold winter's night - below a fog diffused light
A blistered leather bag waits for you
And on your way back - you came past these tracks.
But now all the luggage looks the same
That old cruel west wind - continues to blow.
And I hear it calling your name.
Like a west wind
Lost it’s best friend
CHORUS1
Like a west wind
Lost it’s best friend
CHORUS2
West Wind a blowin
Like a tumbleweed rollin
And thoughts of you fumblin’ round in my brain
The instant of knowing
Is a seed that starts growin
From fantasies fallin’ like rain
Like a west wind
Like a best friend
Like a west wind
Like a best friend
Like a west wind
Like a west wind
Hear it howlin'
Out of Big Bend
Lost it's best friend

This Big Empty
Copyright 2012 Robert Lindsay Nathan, Jr.
Why do I feel so vacant, lost and empty
From the picture postcard letters that you sent me?
Like a lone tree living stately on the landscape
Or our long forgotten literary “handshake”.
There’s a smile beneath this tattered Stetson hat
But don’t believe appearances at that
Belie observers that are uninvolved
Or mysteries gone unresolved
Is there nothing left me to forsake
From the missing miles and my mad mistakes?
Or the memories that you lent me
And left me lost in This Big Empty.
My destiny has all but sent me
Across this vast and great big empty
With loneliness that’s in my heart aplenty
And solitude that’s meant to be
On a road that leads to lost horizons past;
A forest dense and fishing net that’s cast
Yields a vast expanse of a desert’s soul that’s cast
From diversions never meant to last
Is there nothing left me to forsake
From the missing miles and my mad mistakes?
Or the memories that you lent me
And left me lost in This Big Empty.

Lovely Lady
Copyright Robert Lindsay Nathan
Hey, Lovely Lady
Won’t you spend the night with me?
Say, hey Lovely Lady
Am I wrong to feel so free?
Well, I’ve been thinking ‘bout us for the longest time
Intoxicating desire warms me like wine
Embraced enchantment through a winter night
And later on, the afterglow, will warm our souls till light
Say, hey Lovely Lady
What’s this trance you have me in?
Say, hey pretty mama
Is this love without an end?
Yes, I’m addicted to the love that you mainline
Intoxicating desire warms me like wine.
I know it’s only love that you deal
And that is why, I’m standing by,
Hoping I can steal, a kiss
From you, Lovely Lady
Hold me close next to your heart,
Say, hey pretty woman
I should have known right from the start.
Dependency was all you had to give
Now I’m begging for the love that you live
Don’t withhold I need you more than you know
Your lovin’ fix, I get my kicks, just hoping you will give
Your love to me, Lovely Lady
Won’t you spend some time with me?
Lovely Lady,
Won’t you spend the night with me?
(Break)
Hey, Lovely Lady
Won’t you spend the night with me?
Say, hey Lovely Lady
Am I wrong to feel so free?
Well, I’ve been thinking ‘bout us for the longest time
Intoxicating desire warms me like wine

Trouble
Copyright 2004 J. Mahoney and R. L. Nathan
Trouble's not for everyone
Trouble makes trouble just for fun
Trouble will keep you under the gun
Look out boys, here comes trouble
Troubles' jeans ride low on her hips
The trouble with trouble is her ruby red lips
Trouble's curves will run you down in a ditch
Look out boys, here comes trouble
Trouble sees trouble with her piercing blue eyes
Trouble is the devil in disguise
She gives the willies to all the guys
Look out boys, here comes trouble
Willie walk soft, Willie walk nice
Trouble can be a little bit of sugar or spice
Gotta behave or she turns to ice
All the boys, want to get into trouble
Trouble is tall, Trouble is tan
Trouble makes trouble whenever she can
Some of us turned, some of us ran
Look out boys, here comes trouble
Swingin' her hips and battin' her eyes
Trouble is the devil in disguise
She gives the willies to all the guys
All the boys, want to get into trouble
Trouble is long, Trouble is lean
Trouble is sweet a Peach ice-cream
She can be tart and she can be mean
Look out boys, here comes trouble.

The Old Man and the Sky

The Old Man and the Sky
Copyright March 2003: Cross, Nathan, Mahoney, Wakeland
A wrinkled wink, from a steel blue eye,
Of an old man, as he stumbled on by
Broke the heart of a clear blue sky
And as tears rained down, I wondered why
I was still seeking shining steel of pink
With one good eye, and a broken blink
I scavenged the faces for that wrinkled wink,
And the nod that only old men think
Another day break, and the skyline wrinkles
With a broken promise, and some icy sprinkles.
As the pink ray of a new day; lo
Becomes the steel of a caged rainbow
No stare or care, I rambled on by
But that old man he blinked, and so did I
Well it seems we see somewhat eye to eye
And that’s the answer to my why
Chorus:
Why indeed does that steely heart bleed?
On what moldy bread does our love feed?
For all that men know, both young and old
In the end, we’re freed to the ground so cold….so cold.
Yet still, with the knowing of an aged smile
Comes the wrinkled wink of that steel blue eye
One good eye and a broken blink
With the nod that only old men think

Bailout Blues
Copyright 2010 Robert Lindsay Nathan, Jr.
Rich man’s got deductions
Business has their subsidies
Bankers get their bailouts
The Fed’s got monopoly
My daddy always taught me
Son, there’s nothin’ free
So I’ve just got a load of tax
And a lousy J. O. B.
Who’s gonna bail out me?
Who’s gonna bail out me?
The Federal Reserve
It’s so absurd
They’re not part of bein’ free.
Who’s gonna bail out me?
It ain’t the oligocracy
Or their legalized Ponzi schemes.
Chorus
I just want to live my life
In peace, love and liberty,
Don’t want no big daddy government
Takin’ care of me.
Poor man’s got the welfare,
Hungry man’s got the stamps,
Panhandler has a cardboard sign, and
Salvation army pants
My daddy always taught me
Son, there’s nothin’ free
So I’ve just got a load of tax
And a lousy J. O. B.
Who’s gonna bail out me?
Who’s gonna bail out me?
Good God bless
Not the IRS
Or their criminality.
Who’s gonna bail out me?
It ain’t the politician
Or this codependency.
Chorus
I just want to live my life
In peace love and anarchy,
Don’t want no big daddy government
To sponsor my slavery
Outro
Who’s gonna bail out me?
It’s me and my friends
Neighbors and then
God and family
Who’s gonna bail me out.....?
Who’s gonna bail out me?
It’s me and my friends
Neighbors and then
God and family
Who’s gonna bail me out.....?
